Indian batsman dominates 1st day of the Boxing Day Test at MCG

The 3rd Test match between India vs Australia completes its 1st day with Indian batsman giving a tough fight with 215-2 on the board at the times of stumps.

This Test match is also known as Boxing Day Test match because the servants in Victorian-era England were given boxes of gifts a day after Christmas. The Australian team has hosted a Boxing Day Test since 1990 every year.

As the 1st day was in full favor of the Indian batsman, they have put up a good score on the board. The openers Hanuma Vihari and the debutant Mayank Agarwal come to the crease and was playing consistently but in the 19 over Pat Cummins took the wicket of Vihari.

Cheteshwar Pujara joins the debutant Mayank Agarwal after the fall of the 1st wicket. Mayank Agarwal went to score his half-century on his Test debut at the MCG.This innings of Agarwal is at No. 2 on the list of top-scoring Indian opening batsman on Test debut overseas.

Mayank went to score 76 off 161 balls before he was caught behind the stumps by Tim Paine on the ball of Pat Cummins. After the fall of his wicket at 123-2, the Indian Skipper joins Cheteshwar Pujara.

Then Pujara went to score his 21st Test Half-century. At the end of the day, the score of the Indian team was 215-2 with the Skipper 3 run short to his half-century and Pujara at 68 not out.

Pat Cummins of Australian national cricket team was the only bowler to pick up the wickets, his bowling figure at the end of the day was 19-6-40-2.
